2026 ÃÈÃÃÉçÇø Graduate Student Research Conference: Call for Co-Chairs!

The ÃÈÃÃÉçÇø Graduate Student Research Conference (GSRC) that typically takes place in the Winter term provides a special opportunity for ÃÈÃÃÉçÇø students to present their research in a supportive and collegial setting. The GSRC is organized by the ÃÈÃÃÉçÇø Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) with the support of the Dean’s Office.

We will start planning the 2026 GSRC soon and require the assistance of one to two ÃÈÃÃÉçÇø student/s to co-chair the conference with the GSA’s VP Academic, Carolyn Oei.

Responsibilities of a co-chair include (but are not limited to) developing a conference theme, making recommendations for keynote/invited speakers, overseeing the peer review of submissions, liaising with the Dean’s office and other relevant stakeholders and supporters, providing guidance to volunteers, and planning the conference program/schedule.

Our broad requirements of a co-chair are (in no particular order of importance):

  • Experience in organizing conferences and/or other academic events (non-academic event experience may be considered if significant and relevant).
  • Commitment to long hours of work particularly in the planning phase (scheduled to begin by mid-September 2025) and during the conference.
  • A willingness to serve the ÃÈÃÃÉçÇø student body.

An honorarium of $500 will be paid to each co-chair.

Your submission MUST include:

  1. An Expression of Interest (no longer than one page; Word or PDF format only) detailing
    (a) why the role of co-chair interests you and 
    (b) what your vision for 2026 GSRC is. Consider matters like concept, theme and format/structure as well as other matters you think are important.
     
  2. An updated Curriculum Vitae.  

Late submissions will not be considered. 

Selection criteria include:

  • Suitability of applicant
  • Clarity of vision
  • Academic suitability of concept and theme
  • Practicality of format/structure
  • Professionalism of submission
  • Other matters that the Executive Committee deems relevant.

Interviews should take place in September 2025. Only shortlisted applicants will be notified. The decision of the Executive Committee will be considered final.
